The #1 Reason People Fail in Business and Careers
Your best life is waiting outside the herd mentality
This is the 232nd consecutive post on MrEmogical Notes. If you’ve been following this series and are finding value from this blog/ newsletter, please consider sharing this post with one person who you feel needs to read this for their betterment.
Introduction
The biggest reason why (most) people fail in business, or their careers, or end up experiencing burnout is simpler than you'd think/ expect.
They pick the wrong path.
And not because they lack talent or opportunities.
But because they choose based on comparison, social pressure, or blind trends.
The Wrong Reasons People Choose Careers or Businesses
Most people make decisions based on:
01 - Where "the money is" right now
02 - Which field society respects the most
03 - Which industry has the brightest prospects according to LinkedIn trends or startup blogs
And honestly — these are some of the worst ways to make a lifelong decision.
You Can’t Teach a Fish to Run in the Jungle
It’s an old line, but it’s gold.
If you’re a fish, you belong in the water.
Trying to run in the jungle will only leave you frustrated, exhausted, and eventually burnt out, that's if you magically find a way to learn how to swim in the first place.
The same goes for careers and businesses.
What Should You Do Instead?
01 - Understand your strengths
02 - Identify your areas of interest
03 - Find what excites you, what challenges you without draining you
04 - Choose a business or career path that’s in absolute sync with your personality
Stop following the herd.
When you build a career or business aligned with your core skill sets and natural interests — success feels natural, growth feels organic, and burnout becomes a rare (and a relatively small) possibility.
Final Thought
Comparison kills creativity and clarity.
If you stop chasing other people’s dreams and focus on your strengths, your business and career graph will look very different in just a few years.
