4 Amazing Single Product Competitive Brands Who Are 50+ Years Old And Still Do Epic Business
This Industry Breaks All The Rules And What Can You Learn From It!
Imagine a multiplayer industry where EVERY product has a unique demand and manages to coexist peacefully
(And here we are living in scarcity expending so much energy "competing")
Business is not as difficult as someone may make it seem.
There are so many industries like cola, stationery products, chocolates that have similar products as their "competition" and yet they manage to build multi-billion-dollar businesses despite operating in the exact same ecosystem/ market/ stores as their competitor.
Today's note focuses on one such broad industry of board games.
I'm sure you've most probably heard of the following brands:
Rubik's Cube; launched in 1974, 50 years ago
Monopoly; launched in 1935, 89 years ago
Uno; launched in 1971, 53 years ago
Scrabble; launched in 1938, 86 years ago
Sidebar: All the links mentioned in this post are affiliate links.
Do you already see what I'm trying to reflect upon here?
Isn't the target market, audience, distribution system of all of these brands/ products more or less similar?
And yet, haven't all of these brands managed to create a mark for themselves in the market?
Business is all about creating one unique product, that solves a specific problem in the life of the target customer and delivering that product to the customer at a price and with a user experience that gets your customer hooked to you.
A Rubik's Cube doesn't compete with Monopoly (and other examples mentioned). It has been servicing its target customer of Rubik's Cube enthusiasts who compete, learn tricks and master the art of solving the cube.
The idea of this post was triggered in my mind by seeing ads of this Indian board game called Shasn which was launched a couple of years ago.
However, what you need to understand is, your mindset and not the competition is the only thing holding you back from thinking of ideas which will help you create your next million (if not billion) dollar business.
