5 Secrets To Become The Best Content Creator You Can Be
The one post that holds the capacity to change the trajectory of your content creation business.
Introduction
Today, every person who holds a smartphone is a content creator.
If you’re reading this, it's safe to assume, 99% of the people around you own a smartphone, so it’s a logical argument to believe that we are living in a world where almost everyone around us is a content creator, a micro influencer and if you’re someone who is serious about content creation, the sooner you pull up your socks and understand how this universe works, better for the overall growth of your personal brand.
Allow me to present to you 5 traits and habits that I’d want you to adopt for yourself in your content creation journey to become the best version of the content creator that you can be
1 - Do it for the content, not the money
The best stand-up comics are not those who got into the industry to make a lot of money. They got into the industry for the love of the craft.
The best sportsperson who is a champion in their game across the world never thought about the money they would earn when they were practicing for the state/ national-level games.
Their focus was always to represent their nation on the international stage and become the best player they can be.
I hope you have connected the dots.
If one of the main reasons why you’re becoming a content creator is to make a lot of money, you might as well drop the idea because the first and the prime reason for you to become a content creator is a non-negotiable and that is, your love for content and wanting to serve your target audience.
2 - Build connections, not numbers
Good content creators build an envious follower count, but great content creators focus a lot more on creating a strong connection with their audience.
Of course they care about the total number of followers, but they care a lot more about how engaged their community is with their voice, their content and their ideologies.
3 - Treat your content with love and care
This is a lot easier and simpler than it seems.
Content creation can get really demanding as an exercise, and the only way to not get burned out in this journey is to find the perfect mix of love and care.
Love for the process of creating content, the process of building a library/ canon of your work that will eventually become your creative legacy.
How does care enter the equation? When you focus on caring about every person/ soul who will come across your content.
Every click on your content is an opportunity to serve a much larger audience. So, treat every piece of content you create with a lot of care that it truly deserves.
4 - Original is better than the rest
While it’s tempting to get inspired by someone who’s a far more popular creator in your niche, however I request you to not fall for this trap.
While it's easy to become the next version of someone who’s already popular, a decision like that generally tends to backfire, especially when your career/ business/ role is public facing.
When dealing with people, nothing beats the magic of being absolutely real, honest, and raw.
Your personality, your language, your tonality, your knowledge, your experience and your authenticity are great aspects of your content that are individually capable of getting millions of people to connect with you.
Why bother to emulate someone else?
Might as well invest some effort and energy on self-introspection and become more confident to present all your content in the most authentic way possible.
5 - Frequency of content
As a content creator, the dependence on another platform is inevitable.
The best way to become invincible as a creator is to become one of the best creators for that platform, over time.
One of the best ways to do that is to create content at a pace that’s comfortable to you and fairly clear and predictable to your target audience.
The complexities of your content, your target audience, your social status within your area of expertise will determine the frequency of your content, so select carefully and once selected, make sure you stay consistent for good.
Conclusion
Hope the post lived up to your expectations and gave you the insights, perspective and something new that you were looking for.
By no means is the aforementioned list exhaustive in any way. It’s indicative at best.
However, I can assure you, if as a content creator you manage to incorporate all the points of this list, there is no stopping you from becoming at the top of your niche.
