Authenticity in Business: Here’s How to Recognise it Instantly
Watch how they work, not what they pitch
This is the 253rd consecutive post on MrEmogical Notes. If you’ve been following this series and are finding value from this blog/ newsletter, please consider sharing this post with one person who you feel needs to read this for their betterment.
Introduction
One of the easiest ways to decipher if someone is genuinely authentic, either as a person or a business owner, is to observe how they approach their work.
What’s their relationship with their business?
How do they speak about their product or service?
How involved are they in their brand’s daily execution?
These questions reveal everything.
How does this work, and what to look for?
The Red Flags Are Subtle, But Clear
Most new business owners, especially those still uncertain about their product, tend to behave a certain way:
- They’re insecure
- They’re secretive
- They use vague phrases like: “There’s a secret sauce…”, “It’s based on imported/ unique technology…”, “I can’t share too much, it’s exclusive…”
That’s usually code for ‘I’m not confident yet.’
What Real Entrepreneurs Know
Experienced entrepreneurs? They don’t fear sharing ideas.
Because they know businesses succeed because of execution, not secrecy.
These people understand that execution matters more than ideas.
Success is not built on tricks or hacks.
Long-term business growth comes from delivering real, repeatable value and doing it consistently and at scale.
The Truth About Value
A customer happily pays for a product or service that solves their problem with clear, tangible value, at a price that feels worth it, and that is what builds trust and scale! Not "secret strategies" or "shady exclusivity".
So, Next Time You Hear...
Someone selling you a dream with “a secret method”, “an insider shortcut”, “a confidential strategy…” …pause and ask yourself:
Is this real value or just marketing drama?
Because more often than not, there’s very little substance behind the glitter.
Conclusion
Are you confident about the value that you provide to your customers? Does your offer reflect this sense of confidence and clarity? Do you find it easy to sell your brand and your products/ services to your target audience? If the answer to any of these questions is not a confident “yes”, you need someone to help you refine your offer. Did you know I consult growing businesses and content creators on a 1:1 basis?
