Can You Profit From Your Passion? There’s Only One Way to Find Out
The most effective litmus test to figure how profitable is your passion in real life.
This is the 204th consecutive post on MrEmogical Notes. If you’ve been following this series and are finding value from this blog/ newsletter, please consider sharing this post with one person who you feel needs to read this for their betterment.
Introduction
In more ways than one “follow your passion” is extremely flawed advice when it comes to choosing your profession/ career/ business.
Why? Because you have no guarantees of how profitable your passion is really going to be, when you tell the market to put a price tag on your talent.
However, not all passion is non-marketable, and if you’re really passionate about something, it deserves at least one chance before you declare it can;t be made profitable.
So, let’s talk about the most effective litmus test to create a profession/ profit from your passion.
The litmus test of passion
The easiest way to discover if you can profit from your passion is to put your passion to test (in the market).
Put your money where your mouth is and start selling a product/ service or create content (if your passion is some sort of performing art) on social media.
No excuses, no ifs/buts. No “I’ll do it when….” Just start. Start today.
If in 100 days, you can collect enough money that can get you what feels like a decent paycheck, good. You’re ready to roll.
Otherwise, find yourself a real job/ business. Not all passion can be monetised and that’s just a fact of life.
This may seem like a roundabout way to test the financial efficacy of your passion. However, in today’s times, 100 days of content, trying to build an audience is a great way to test the depth of your ideas, the demand in the market and the actual receptiveness of your passion in the market.
