Finding a Good Boss? This is What to Look For
Spot the red flags in your boss before it’s too late

News Flash: One Type of Boss You Must Avoid at All Costs/ Don't Be This Boss
Recently, a fresh graduate DM’d me with a simple, powerful question:
“What kind of boss should I stay away from?”
My answer?
Stay away from a micromanager.
Here’s why:
When you’re new to a job, it’s normal for your manager to keep a close eye for the first 7 days. Maybe even up to 14, if needed. That’s fair.
They want to make sure you understand the systems.
They want to be sure you're settling in well.
They want to help you avoid silly mistakes.
But here’s the red flag:
If someone continues to control and monitor your every move even after you've understood the job — you're working with a boss who doesn’t trust people.
That’s a career killer.
Traits of an Ideal Boss
The best bosses do these 3 things:
01 - They teach you what’s expected clearly.
02 - They give you the freedom to explore your own methods.
03 - They only care about the results — not micromanaging your every step.
They empower you to become better, more efficient, and more confident.
If you don’t have a boss like this — that’s your cue to leave.
If you're working under someone who’s:
Constantly nitpicking, tracking every single action you take, not allowing you to make decisions, you’re being drained, not developed.
Get out. Find better leadership.
Find a mentor, not a manipulator.
And if you are that micromanager...
You better hope your team never reads this post.
Because the moment they do, they’ll start looking for someone better to work with, and they deserve better.

And if you’re in a leadership role — be the kind of boss you wish you had when you were starting out.
