I really hope you answered the question.
Now, let’s continue with the topic of this note.
The quality of your life is a result of the quality of the decisions you take.
Most people who are unhappy in their life feel unhappy with the consequences of the decisions they have taken in the past.
People don’t make bad decisions on purpose.
However, we are also never told what’s the process to make the right decisions.
Technically, it’s virtually impossible to teach someone “how to make good decisions all the time”.
All the time being the operative words.
That’s simply because every situation, every condition, every circumstance under which decisions are made are unique, and most factors will not be in your favour and/ or in your control.
As a result, you need to understand how to identify patterns from your past decisions; consequences of which turned out to be unfavourable over the long term.
If you look closely, you will find one (or more) of the following factors in these decisions that nosedived sooner than later.
1. These decisions were made under pressure.
2. These decisions were made without having enough/ complete information
3. These decisions were made under emotional reasons (influences of someone you’re attached to)
4. These decisions were made to please someone else
5. These decisions were made because you couldn’t think of any other alternative at that moment.
In simple words, the decisions that you happen to regret in the future are the decisions that you make for all the wrong reasons.
Reasons that you hope play out/ settle in your favour eventually.
However, that’s not how life works.
You need to make decisions if a decision is a good (if not a great) decision right from the word go.
Of course, that doesn’t guarantee that all your decisions will turn out to be favourable over time.
Life will throw you some curveballs every once in a while.
However, when you get into the habit of making decisions on the basis of data (and not intuition), on the basis of merit (and not relationships), on the basis of calculations (and not hopes) and most importantly after thorough deliberation (and not pressure), you will start getting comfortable with the process of making better decisions.
I know this note may feel like just a pseudo intellectual rant, but even if one person is saved from making one (could be) bad decision after reading this note, this note would have achieved its purpose.
