Is The Sudden Break In Your Career/ Business Growth Your Fault?
If you feel you’re the kind of a person who gets offended easily, it’s best if you skip this note. You have been warned.
This is the 160th consecutive post on MrEmogical Notes. If you’ve been following this series and are finding value from this blog/ newsletter, please consider sharing this post with one person who you feel needs to read this for their betterment.
The brutal reality
Disclaimer
If you’re someone who’s easily offended, it’s best if you stay away from today’s note. I’m clearly in a mood as I type this note, and the intention is not to offend anybody, but I know for a fact that the brutal honesty of this note may end up ruffling some feathers. So, consider yourself warned.
Jobs are in danger
Businesses are facing more competition from organized players, bad economic indicators, raising prices, slowing economy, etc.
It’s not the best time to be a business owner/ working professional.
Unless you’ve been outperforming in your business/ career (consistently) for the last 3-5 years, your financial future is bleak and in a lot of trouble.
If you end up facing a situation where you’re walking/ driving at a high speed towards a (proverbial) wall in your business/ career, it’s going to be your fault.
The truth you don’t want to hear/ see/ read
Well, I gave you a disclaimer.
I also gave you a rough start with the brutal reality at the start of this note.
If you’re still reading, firstly, I appreciate your courage.
Now when that’s out of the way, let’s figure why am I telling you that it’s your fault if your business/ career has been (or is going to be) in danger.
Well, answer the following questions for me (read: yourself):
01 - When was the last time you worked towards refining and expanding your personal brand?
02 - When was the last time you learned a new skill that could have a direct impact on increasing your paycheck/ business?
03 - When was the last time you polished one (or multiple) of your soft skills?
04 - When was the last time you networked with people from your industry/ your target audience and had a consultation/ conversation with them 1:1?
Your inactivity (towards a well defined path of progress) is the root cause of stagnancy in your career/ business.
With the world moving at the pace of artificial intelligence and machine learning, who are you going to blame if your microprocessor (skillset/ attitude) resembles that of a calculator?
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not disrespecting a calculator.
I’m just saying a calculator shouldn’t expect treatment/ get jealous with the growth of a graphic processing unit that’s supporting LLM and computation of the latest release of the top-notch Artificial Intelligence update.
If you didn’t understand the meaning of that last statement, good luck, because that’s a red-flag.
The (only) solution
Pull up your socks and start upgrading your skill sets, start recording your journey, build your personal brand and make sure you keep reading this newsletter/ blog for constant and regular reality checks.
