It's Not Easy Being A Digital Media Agency Owner in India
This post is inspired by conversation with multiple digital media agency owners from India.
I'd NEVER want to become a digital marketing agency (DMA) owner, especially in India.
(Hats off to agency owners who have the tolerance)
Disclaimer: The following post has been developed after interaction with multiple agency owners from India. I don't claim this to be the across the country/ world
Every time I talk to an agency owner I'm perplexed.
It's nerve wrecking just to know the kind of demands that clients make/ come up with.
One agency owner was lamenting (and rightfully so) because her client wanted every post and reel on Instagram to "magically" reach million+ views.
Another agency owner was feeling helpless because the founder refuses to face the camera and educate the market about a technical B2B product.
If you're a business owner, please be mindful of the fact that agency owners are service providers, not your business partners.
They don't understand your product, your business SOPs, your sales mechanisms.
The role & responsibility of a DMA is to get qualified leads into your funnel/ at your doorstep (unless specified otherwise in the contract).
You (and your team) are responsible to know how to convert the lead to an interested prospect and ensure that the prospect makes the purchase because your product/ service is so good.
Business owners that wash their hands off the responsibility and blame DMA for not generating a high ROI/ ROAS need to look into their business practices before pointing a finger at agency (owners).
This is my rant, and my note of gratitude that I don't have to deal with irresponsible clients like these in my business at Paycheck To Profit.
If you're an agency owner, do share your thoughts and past experiences in the comments below. Also, share how do you manage to tackle/ deal with prospects/ clients like these?
P.S.: I know business owners who own and operate a service businesses face similar clients, but that's a story of another day. Subscribe to my Substack to stay updated with posts like these reaching directly in your inbox. Link to Substack 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
