The Absolute Truth About The Journey of Every Superior Master
The three ingredients of every master’s path from being a commoner to the best of the best.
Let’s start today’s note with a bold claim!
It is impossible to excel in your career/ business unless you excel at what you do.
Why do I say so?
Let’s figure if I manage to prove my point till the end of the note
The pyramid of success
Let’s assume the journey of a newbie to becoming a master resembles a pyramid.
The room at the top of the pyramid is reserved for the masters and the experts.
However, very few things ever get spoken (read: underlined) about the journey of the masters.
What does it take to actually become a master?
Why is the room at the top always reserved for just a handful?
The journey of newbie to the master
The answer to all the questions that you’ve read until this moment can be summed up in one word.
And that word is…
BORING
Yes.
The journey of every master has been full of boring, repetitive, mundane tasks.
Mark Zuckerberg had to type millions of lines of code, debug the code and do this for months at a stretch before he managed to create Facebook.
Michael Jackson had to practice every step of his routine hundreds of thousands of times before he became an icon. Even after he became an icon, he had to keep repeating those steps over and over, every time he performed in front of an audience.
The journey to the top is full of repetitive and (seemingly) boring tasks.
You will have to keep working tirelessly, do the same thing over and over.
Create new patterns of workflows, remove the slightest redundancies from the process.
Every step of progress adds up and contributes to the big picture of creating something irreplaceable and magnificent.
The three pillars of the journey
Want to become a master in your craft/ area of expertise/ domain?
First things first, please make sure you have chosen a domain that you’re genuinely interested in.
Because it may seem easy to commit to the concept repeating every task thousands of times, but it's easier said than done.
Unless you really love your job/ business, you will reach the milestone of burnout before you even enter the periphery of becoming good at what you do, leave alone chances of excelling at your craft.
The three pillars that help you keep crossing one milestone after another in your journey of success are:
1. Desire
Unless you have a clear desire to excel, you will find reasons/ excuses why giving your 100% is not worth your pursuit of unlocking excellence.
2. Diligence
While desire may be half the battle won, diligence (read: consistency) in your behaviour is what will test your true spirit.
It’s easy to perform lip service and claim you have what it takes to cross every milestone and finish every race, but when push comes to shove, only the diligent ones will survive.
3. Dedication
This is the most underrated quality in the lot. Irrespective of your strong desire and how honest your diligence, you will face innumerable hurdles, roadblocks, and potholes on your way.
You will make mistakes. You will trip, fall and you will get hurt.
The journey to the top of the pyramid is anything but easy.
Dedication is the underrated superpower that has helped more winners cross the finishing line that is given credit to.
The result
In a way, isn’t this a given?
If you have managed to reach till this point of the note, it's pretty clear that you know what the end result of all this hard work would be.
Not only would you taste the sweet fruits of success, but you will reach the top of the pyramid, be grateful for the journey you’ve been through, and get the answer to the question, “why are there so few people at the top of every pyramid of success?”
