Make Your Competitor's Weakness Your Astonishing Advantage
Your competition is struggling and you should know what they’re missing out on, and how to build your moat
This is the 156th consecutive post on MrEmogical Notes. If you’ve been following this series and are finding value from this blog/ newsletter, please consider sharing this post with one person who you feel needs to read this for their betterment.
Introduction
Every person feels that their life will be much better if/ when they become an entrepreneur.
The understanding of the term “being an entrepreneur” feels like it’s all about being in control of the situation, not being answerable to anybody and living a “smooth life”.
About time someone talks clears the air.
The Myth
The most common myth when it comes to the world of entrepreneurship is that entrepreneurs have it easy.
There are so many resources available at the disposal of an entrepreneur that anybody can hit it out of the park, should they just try and give it their best
The Reality
The actual reality couldn’t be far from the truth.
Yes, being a business owner can be rewarding, but more often than not, those rewards keep accruing for the entrepreneur in the background and at times it ends up taking a decade or so, for the business owner to reap the rewards of the hard work that they put in relentlessly for all those years.
Today, it’s really common to find an overwhelmed entrepreneur who’s trying to balance sales, managing teams, creating content on social media, trying to manage (and failing) to build a brand, etc.
The Solution
The reason why most entrepreneurs are lost is because they don’t have access to the most important, rewarding and profitable strategy of the successful business owners.
The only way to grow your business is to understand the two categories of tasks that a business has to undertake on the journey.
These tasks are profit/ revenue generating essential tasks and the non-essential tasks.
While the non-essential tasks (building content, building a newsletter list, etc.) are important, they can be extremely time consuming and the only way to incorporate them in your business is to work with focus.
While your competition is trying to fix their newsletter list and grow on social media and create new freebies simultaneously, make focus your superpower.
Pick up one non-essential task as your project. Give your 100% to that project. Start executing that project as per plan, and stick with (ONLY) that project unless it’s working smoothly and can now be handed over to a team member.
The only way to win in today's world is to have laser sharp focus when everyone is absolutely distracted and trying to deal with FOMO in every aspect of their life.
Conclusion
Make a list of the non-essential tasks that would be useful for your business/ career growth, reshuffle the list as per priority and start working on the top most project.
Do not even bother to move to the next (or any other) project from the list unless the project at hand is executed and implemented to your heart’s satisfaction.
