If I Were to Start a Business Today...
If I had to start a business today, I wouldn’t build a tech platform, launch a product, or chase the next shiny digital trend.
I’d build an experiential business.
A business rooted in real human connection.
One that people would pay for today, but would be willing to pay a serious premium for in the next 10 to 20 years.
Let me explain why
The World Is More Connected Than Ever… But Emotionally Disconnected. We’re living in a world that’s hyper-digital. We’re always plugged in—but somehow more disconnected than ever.
Our relationships are getting weaker, faster, and increasingly transactional.
We don’t realise it yet, but the emotional void we’re creating is going to leave a massive demand gap in the future.
A Sneak Peek Into the Future
Look around.
In some countries, people are already paying for companionship:
- To have someone talk over a meal
- To rent a cuddle partner
- To spend a weekend with someone and simply be seen and heard
Yes, these models exist.
And this is just the beginning.
I won’t be surprised if, ten years from now, people will:
- Pay someone to go shopping with them
- Hire a company to walk through a mall
- Book a “friend” just to sit on a bench and talk for an hour
Sounds sad?
Maybe.
But it’s real.
And more importantly, it’s inevitable.
This Isn’t Nihilism. It’s Market Reality.
You can dismiss it as a bleak future.
But I choose to see it as a business opportunity rooted in deep empathy.
Because here’s the truth:
We’re not investing enough in our mental health or our relationships.
And businesses that help people feel seen, heard, and connected… will matter more than ever.
So yes, if I had to bet on one business today, it would be an experience-based business that delivers emotional value.
Something that helps people feel safe, understood, and connected, even if just for a few hours.
Final Thoughts
There’s a new kind of loneliness brewing, and we haven’t even scratched the surface of its consequences.
The business that solves this problem, without judgment and with intention, will not just be profitable. It’ll be priceless.
