Rethinking Success: Are You Measuring Your Life by the Right Metrics & Opportunities?
Why Chasing Status Symbols Won't Bring You Happiness
This is the 189th consecutive post on MrEmogical Notes. If you’ve been following this series and are finding value from this blog/ newsletter, please consider sharing this post with one person who you feel needs to read this for their betterment.
Introduction
If I were to give you a choice between living a long life unhappily or living a life that’s enjoyable every moment, but could crash any day without notice, which option would you choose?
Feels like an unfair/ bad set of choices to choose from, right?
Unfortunately; knowingly/ unknowingly that’s the direction in which many (if not most) people are walking towards.

Life & Lifestyle
You have only two choices in life.
01 - Either work towards making a life for yourself (and your loved ones)
This would mean you bring your a-game to your work/ business every day, without exception.
You need to work hard, achieve one milestone after another.
You acknowledge and express gratitude for everything, but you celebrate only the most important milestones.
Do this for a decade or two, and the benefits that you have staggered in all these years payout in lump sum, and makes every effort worth it
or
02 - Work towards living your life to the fullest and experience lifestyle as it’s “meant to be”
This is the fraction of the society that’s high on a heady cocktail of YOLO+FOMO.
If you’re in this category, you enjoy your concerts, vacations, living a life that’s full of colours, visa stamps on your passport and experiences that make you feel rich.
However, for many (if not most), this lifestyle beyond one point is neither practical, nor financially feasible.
My only question to people living this lifestyle is, “when/ how will you draw thaw the line, and will you really find joy in your life when this endless barrage of travelling and partying stops?”
Conclusion
If you’re finding yourself getting pulled between wanting to live a balanced life and being pulled into lifestyle oriented choices, I strongly recommend you get yourself a coach who can help you with this dilemma. If you’d be interested in a 1:1 consultation with me and talk about these subjects or maybe your business/ career or your personal brand, feel free to reach out to me and let’s connect.
