The Hidden Key to Business Growth: Stop Obsessing Over Problems
Big breakthroughs are born when you commit to the solution

Introduction
One of the fastest ways to grow in business is to shift your energy away from challenges and risks, and towards the solutions that lead to success.
I know that might sound impractical. When I first heard it in my personal development journey, my immediate thought was: “Easier said than done.”
But then I came across a powerful reminder: whatever you focus on expands.
So, if all your energy goes into worrying about problems, they’ll feel bigger.
But when you train yourself to focus on solutions, you create momentum, and there’s no better example of this than Steve Jobs and the iPhone.
The story: how the iPhone got its iconic glass screen
When the first iPhone was in development, Jobs realized the plastic screen scratched too easily. He wanted something more durable: a scratch-resistant glass.
On paper, this was nearly impossible. Tight deadline. No existing production process. A massive risk.
But instead of accepting the problem, Jobs focused on the solution.
A friend connected him to Corning CEO Wendell Weeks. During their meeting, Weeks explained that Corning had shelved a type of strong, chemically strengthened glass back in the 1960s.
Jobs immediately demanded it be mass-produced within six months. Weeks protested that production capacity didn’t exist.
Jobs looked him in the eye and said:
“Don’t be afraid. Yes, you can do it.”
That moment changed everything.
Weeks and his team converted an existing Kentucky facility, worked day and night, and delivered. When the iPhone launched in June 2007, it set a new global standard for smartphones.
Later, Jobs sent Weeks a note: “We couldn’t have done it without you.”
Food for thought
- Problems always look bigger than solutions, until you shift your focus.
- What seems impractical can often become revolutionary when you back it with belief and action.
- Every great business breakthrough comes from asking, “What’s possible?” instead of repeating, “Here’s why it won’t work.”
So next time you feel stuck, remember don’t pour energy into the problem. Pour it into the solution. That’s how legacies are built.
Success doesn’t come from avoiding risks. It comes from focusing on solutions, even when they seem impossible on paper.
