Today’s note is going to be simple and short.
Why?
Because today’s note acts like a bullet.
It’s a simple point and the moment you understand the impact of it in your sales process, that’s the first aspect you’d start working on.
Let me ask you a simple question….
Would you do business with someone who you don’t like?
Today, the prospect has a virtually unlimited number of choices to buy from.
Irrespective of how good/ effective/ unique your product/ service is, there are multiple alternatives available for a discerning customer and it won’t take them too much time/ effort to find your competitors.
So, if you’re really serious about wanting to ace the aspect of sales in your life/ business, make sure you learn how to “become likeable”.
I know this may seem strange and you generally don’t find information like this in business books/ podcasts/ videos, but that’s the real gamechanger.
People won’t buy from you until they like you.
Even if they end up making a mistake the first time around, they will never buy any upsell unless they really like you.
Also, if people don’t like you, they won’t refer you to other people in their network.
So, while your offer, efficacy of your product is non-negotiable, what’s paramount is that you create an atmosphere wherein the customer feels comfortable even considering making a purchase decision around you.
How do you do that?
Become genuinely concerned about the pain of your prospects.
Understand their pain-point(s) of your target customer.
Create a solution that genuinely solves the challenge around the pain point.
Stop looking at every follower/ like/ comment on social media as just a number. They’re all humans on the other side of the screen.
Build a solid connection with your audience before you make them an offer.
This may seem too philosophical if you’re coming across this idea for the first time but give it a couple of years and you will see a massive shift in the market (irrespective of the industry you operate in).
All sales will soon be a relationship driven decision for the customer.
The market will continue to expect a great product with effective pricing and great reviews, but they will create a long-term connection only with brands that take the extra effort to communicate their story and every step of their journey with the end consumer/ market.
While being likeable is a minimum requirement, it’s not the only trait that you’re supposed to ace when it comes to mastering sales.
