This 1 Quality is The Secret Sauce of Every Stalwart Salesperson in The World
No business owner/ working professional can excel at their job without this quality
Sales is one of the few careers in the world that’s going to remain timeless. Until we humans exist, there will always be demand for great salespeople.
What if I told you, that you can become a great salesperson and your journey to become the most revered salesperson goes through one simple milestone (read: quality)
Let’s double-click on these ideas, shall we?
Why is sales a timeless job?
Humans are addicted to shopping.
We love the dopamine hit that we experience every time we swipe the card and make a purchase.
Which makes the job of a salesperson a very interesting one.
The person handing out samples of the new sauce at the grocery store and the person selling you a supercar are technically doing the exact same job.
They’re educating you; they’re convincing you and they’re getting you to make the purchase of the product that will get them one step/ one sale/ one transaction/ one unit closer to their target of the month/ quarter/ year.
So, until we humans exist, we will stay addicted to shopping and until we keep shopping, the job of the salesperson is pretty safe.
Will Artificial Intelligence take over the job of a salesperson?
Now this is a really interesting aspect of business that we need to analyse, understand and get to the bottom of.
Technically, Artificial Intelligence (AI) will jeopardize the job of a particular category of the salespeople.
However, if you look closely, technology has always been disrupting the world of sales for the past few decades now.
You kicked the need of a salesperson from the transaction the first time you made a purchase online.
The entire e-commerce industry and the vending machines industry are examples of how sales and business has evolved wherein the need of the salespeople has reduced, but the need of a salesperson hasn’t been eradicated through and through.
With AI becoming more commonplace, I foresee more disruption, but we will never be able to replace all human salesforce with touchscreens, copywriting, algorithms and AI.
The one quality that distinguishes great salespeople from the rest
In this situation, if you’re someone who’s livelihood is dependent on sales, you need to master one quality from the best of the best salespeople in the world.
With this one quality in your arsenal (and practice), you can empower yourself to easily sell 10X of the average salesperson in your industry.
The quality of every stalwart salesperson is unshakeable conviction/ faith in the product/ service that they’re selling.
Think about this. Have you ever made a purchase because the confidence of the salesperson was so robust that they managed to answer all your questions and convince you that the purchase would be a profitable decision for you?
What’s more important is to realise that you didn’t regret this purchase, even if you knew that there wasn’t a specific current need in your life to buy the product the salesperson was selling.
However, when a salesperson is convinced about the quality, utility, features and the benefits of the product at the price at which it is being sold, the right salesperson ends up finding ways to create a sliver of a need in the minds and lives of the customer, only on the basis of the conviction.
How do you think the entire telemarketing and home shopping channels have been in business for decades now?
Sales is all about creating a quality product, bundling it up with an offer that’s difficult to refuse, finding the right target audience, making them this offers, finding the right salesperson, seeing the product fly off the proverbial and the literal shelf.
Do you now understand the importance of the salesperson in the equation of the transaction?
They’re the last person, the final link between the product and the purchase transaction, which is what makes them so difficult to replace.
Your Thoughts
Do you agree to the importance and prowess of the salesperson?
Do you resonate with the importance of a salesperson's conviction in the transaction?
Do you think something is as important (or maybe even more important) than the conviction of the salesperson?
