If you and your core team are not training and building more leaders, brace yourself to become an operator of a slow growing business.
This is the 211th consecutive post on MrEmogical Notes. If you’ve been following this series and are finding value from this blog/ newsletter, please consider sharing this post with one person who you feel needs to read this for their betterment.
Disclaimer: I don’t mean to disrespect any organisation/ individual through this post. I’m an MBA graduate myself.
Introduction
In an ideal world, everyone should be focused towards graduating with a degree in MBL & not MBA.
MBA stands for Masters in Business Administration.
From the bigger scheme of things, that’s such a faulty approach.
The real success of business can and will be unlocked when the business world is full of Masters of Business Leadership.
The Real Difference Between Managers and Leaders
The (business) world as we know it has changed, evolved and mutated into an extremely dynamic ecosystem.
Gone are the times when people would work patiently with the same designation/ role for a couple of years before progressing to the next step on their career ladder.
It’s high time the world of business shifts its focus from building (and nurturing) more managers. The world needs more leaders.
What’s the difference between a manager and a leader you ask?
Well, it’s simple actually.
A good manager focuses on managing their team and getting work done.
Great managers create more managers so they can move forward to leadership positions.
Good leaders mentor their managers and get their team to outperform.
Great leaders mentor their managers, get their team to outperform and focus towards making more leaders for the organisation.
If you’re not finding people to replace you, you are hampering your own growth/ progress in the long run.
Conclusion
Are you running/ managing a business where you struggle with training just a few people, and reading this note has got you questioning your management style?
Well you need to learn and master the art of building teams and systems. This is not a skill that will just come to you one day.
You will have to put the necessary energy and effort in the direction to actually see progress in your business.
