Why Done Is Better Than Perfect for Content Creators
Why quantity beats quality (at least in the beginning)
This is the 291st consecutive post on MrEmogical Notes. If you’ve been following this series and are finding value from this blog/ newsletter, please consider sharing this post with one person who you feel needs to read this for their betterment.
Introduction
If you're starting out as a content creator, there's one question that will pop up early and quite often:
“How much content should I create?”
Here’s the honest answer:
It may not feel nice. But it’s the truth you need to hear.
Content platforms love one thing: more content
Every social media platform is designed around time spent by users.
And what keeps users hooked? Content. Lots of it.
So, naturally, platforms reward creators who publish frequently.
That’s why your first focus should be quantity.
More posts = More impressions
More impressions = More reach
More reach = More followers/subscribers
Simple.
But what about quality?
There’s a valid argument here.
What if your content is extremely high-quality?
- It’s shot on multiple cameras
- It’s well-scripted and tightly edited
- The production value is premium
If that’s your style and you have the team and budget to support it, you can post less frequently and still grow.
Because your content becomes a digital asset that people respect and share.
Your audience stays loyal for the richness and polish you bring.
But, here’s the reality for new creators:
- When you're just starting out, two things happen:
- You’re figuring out your niche
- You're yet to find your audience
At this stage, investing heavily in production can:
- Drain your time and money
- Slow down your output
- Delay your learning curve
So instead of overproducing, focus on solving problems, answering questions, and providing value through raw, useful content.
That’s the real quality that matters, not your lighting setup.
Golden rule for new creators
High-quality content is always more important than high-quality production. So, when you start out:
- Prioritize quantity
- Maintain clarity and value in every post
- Upgrade production quality as you grow
Food for thought
Don’t obsess over the “perfect” post.
At the start, your job is to:
- Show up every day
- Publish value-based content
- Learn what works
- Get discovered
Remember, the platform loves momentum, and your audience will follow consistency + clarity, long before they care about cinematic visuals.
