Introduction
Everywhere you look, someone is promising to help you:
“Start a profitable business in 10 steps.”
“Become a millionaire in 30 days.”
Sounds exciting.
But it doesn’t work.
The truth about building a lasting business
The only way to build a business that lasts is simple: Solve a specific problem for a particular target audience.
Example: a restaurant solves the problem of providing a memorable meal and experience. It serves people in a neighborhood, or even an entire city if it’s popular enough.
But here’s the catch! Setting up a unique restaurant that delivers a specific experience isn’t easy.
The soul of a business
Yes, you can set up a restaurant by following a checklist, but a checklist-built business usually lacks the most important ingredient.
The soul of the business.
This soul comes from the founder’s personal connection to the business.
Without that connection, the business will struggle the moment it faces a dark situation, and every business will face challenges sooner or later.
A “template” business owner is rarely prepared for problems beyond what the template covers.
When things get tough, they crumble.
Why solving real problems wins
When you set out to solve a real problem for a real target audience, everything changes.
You identify specific pain points. You design solutions for those exact problems.
Example: if you’re opening a pizzeria in India, you’ll add pizzas that match the Indian palate — spicy toppings, local ingredients, regional flavors. That’s how you connect deeply with your customers.
Checklists are tools, not business models
A true business doesn’t blindly follow a checklist.
Instead, it:
- Uses a checklist as a guiding light.
- Learns from common industry solutions.
- Builds its own custom processes and systems from the ground up.
This is what makes a business resilient and adaptable.
Food for thought
“Follow this plan and become a millionaire in 60 days” sounds tempting, but it won’t prepare you for real-world challenges.
The only way to build a business that lasts is to solve a real problem for a real audience, and to keep adapting your solutions as you grow.
