You're Not Helpless. You Don't Need Motivation, You Need Perspective
The reminder you didn’t realize you needed
Can you bake a dish in 5 mins by tuning up the oven to 300°C if the original recipe says bake for 10 mins at 150°C?
That's what I find most people trying to do with their career/ business these days.
We are living in a world where social media makes it very easy to glorify achievements of outliers.
The biggest podcaster has over 10M+ subscribers across platforms and has 500+ episodes below their belt?
Just those numbers make the entire process to start today on ground zero feel so futile and impossible.
Not to forget, you can never be sure if the numbers/ achievements of some people (read: strangers) that you see on social media is genuine or if it's fabricated.
The impact of social media platforms becoming a megaphone, is that there's a lot of noise, and very little time to filter the truth from the faff.
Filters also reminds me, you can't even trust pictures, because with so many filters and advanced editing tools, you can never be sure if the 1000 words that the picture is saying is true, or even those 1000 proverbial words are doctored (if you know what I mean).
The purpose of this note is NOT to make you feel good about/ question/ minimise your achievements.
The purpose is to actually give you a reminder that if you're still in the arena, it's NEVER too late.
Hang in there. You never know what your life is preparing you for.
The net worth of the Walton family (of the Walmart/ The Sam's Club fame) today stands at nearly $340 billion.
But do you know how did this legacy start?
Sam Walton, the founder started the first store of Walmart at the age of 44.
Yes, you read that right. Go, check online if you don't believe me/ my numbers.
To cut long story short, if you're sure about the scope of the industry you're in.... STAY IN THE ARENA.
Do not quit.
Do not get distracted.
Stay focused and keep working.
The chances of you finding the key that opens the door of infinite opportunities is directly proportional to the time spent, and the value delivered in the arena.
